Play Has No Age Limit

Daniel Morgan Intermediate School (DMIS) in Winchester, Virginia serves students in 5th and 6th grade. Most students this age have outgrown traditional playgrounds, but they still enjoy having outdoor play and recess time. The school wanted to create a place that was engaging, challenging and fun for the students - a place that would keep them active outdoors.

IONiX play systems are fun and challenging for older children

That's where GameTime came in. We worked with DMIS's Dr. Wygal and Chris Matthias to design an age-appropriate playground that helped students incorporate free play into their day. An IONiX play structure is the anchor of the play space. With challenging climbers and a modern, artistic style, it was the perfect fit for older children. It functions as an obstacle course with varying routes of travel throughout the climbers, as well as different levels of skill required to master the activities.

IONiX features a variety of climbers for different skill levels and play styles.

The playground also includes OmniTriNet, a multi-sided net climber that accommodates a dozen or more students at once. At nearly 12' tall, it's a towering addition to the play space and allows students to take positive, healthy risks during play.

OmniTriNet is a popular freestanding net climber for schools.

Schools like DMIS are setting a new standard for meeting the unique needs of their students. By creating areas of playful activity that are age-appropriate, schools can help reverse the childhood obesity epidemic, encourage social interaction and promote healthy habits that last a lifetime.
