Important News from NRPA and CDC
National Recreation and Park Association recently shared guidelines about Coronavirus COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in regard to parks and recreation. The guidance includes information about playgrounds, recreation centers, restrooms, sports courts, pools, and more. It also makes recommendations for park visitors and suggests park and recreation administrators post signage about safe usage of facilities.
FOR PARK VISITORS:
- Do not visit if you are sick or have symptoms of COVID-19.
- Practice social distancing by staying 6 feet away from others.
- Use everyday preventive actions.
- Avoid gathering in groups.
- Do not use playgrounds (including water playgrounds), hot tubs, or spas.
FOR PARK ADMINISTRATORS:
- Promote social distancing and everyday preventive actions.
- Require staff who are sick to stay home.
- Keep bathrooms well-stocked with handwashing supplies.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly.
- Limit the size of gatherings.
- Use flexible sick-leave and telework policies.
