Elevating Play for Communities: GameTime's Collaboration with American Airlines

Play is a universal language, one that brings joy, movement, and connection to children everywhere. In February 2023, GameTime and Sinclair Recreation collaborated with American Airlines and Carter’s Kids to create a new playground in La Paz, Honduras. This initiative was driven by the shared vision of bringing play to children and families in villages, ensuring that every child has an opportunity to play and be more active.

GameTime play experts from Sinclair Recreation worked closely with American Airlines and Carter’s Kids, a nationally recognized charity founded by Carter Oosterhouse and Amy Smart, to design and install a playground. The goal was to provide children in La Paz with a dedicated space to move, play, and simply be kids. With the help of 30 American Airlines volunteers, the playground quickly came together, becoming a hub for the community.

To create an engaging and active space, designers at Sinclair Recreation created a playground featuring GameTime’s PrimeTime playground equipment. These play systems are are compact in size, require less surfacing, and make them easier to install with volunteers. The play structure matches the colors used by American Airlines and was thoughtfully designed to maximize engagement, helping children develop essential skills while having fun.

For many children in La Paz, access to safe and high-quality play spaces is limited. By bringing this playground to their community, families now have a lasting resource where kids can gather, play, and build lifelong memories. This project underscores the importance of play in child development and the role it plays in strengthening communities.
