Parks Make Life Better Tour

GameTime and the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) will embark on a statewide tour of California parks July 9 - July 13, 2018. The “Parks Make Life Better Tour” will visit six parks in five cities to celebrate the leadership of the local parks departments who created new play and recreation spaces in their communities.

Each of the sites are recognized as National Demonstration Sites by PlayCore and reflect best practices in the areas of inclusive play, youth physical activity, adult outdoor fitness or nature-based play and recreation. Community parks directors attended educational workshops on these topics in 2016 and 2017, sponsored by CPRS and presented by PlayCore. GameTime awarded more than two-million dollars in funding assistance to communities who submitted grant applications after participating in the workshops. The grant funding helped to make these new park and recreation projects possible, and it represents GameTime’s commitment to community parks throughout California.

The schedule for the Parks Make Life Better Tour is as follows:

Monday July 9, 2018 - Heritage Park, Suisun City, CA

Tuesday, July 10, 2018 - Summerfaire Park, Turlock, CA

Wednesday, July 11, 2018 - McFarland Park, McFarland, CA

Thursday, July 12, 2018 - Carr and Nibley Parks, Glendale, CA

Friday, July 13, 2018 - Cordova Park, Calexico, CA

At each stop of the tour, representatives from GameTime and CPRS will present certificates to community leaders to recognize the National Demonstration Site status of the park. Each location has events planned for local children and families to enjoy during the celebration, and each play or fitness area will be open for use.
