GameTime Brings New Inclusive Play to Alabama Park

The Alabama Walking Park and Trail in Fort Payne, Alabama features a large playground and splash pad, picnic areas, walking trail and outdoor fitness equipment. It's a wonderful and popular gathering site for families and children. The Optimist Club of Fort Payne wanted to make it an even better place for the people of their community by making it more inclusive with play and recreation activities designed for people of all abilities.

Alabama Walking Park-Fort Payne

Working with GameTime, they installed a collection of new inclusive play products, including:

  • Sensory Wave Climber™ - the industry’s first playground climber that features nearly two dozen Sensors™ that provide auditory, tactical and visual feedback while children climb, play and explore. Three of the auditory Sensors feature Adaptive Switch technology that allows individuals who have limited upper body or fine motor control the ability to activate auditory features. The patent-pending Sensory Wave Climber is available as a ground-to-deck attachment or deck-to-deck link for PowerScape play systems or in multiple configurations as a freestanding playground climber.
  • Sensory Wave Ramp™ - a playful new design for our patented Double Wide playground ramp that allows you to add GT Sensors™ and transform an accessible ramp into an extraordinary play experience for all children!
  • GT Symphony™ - a collection of precision-tuned musical instruments designed in partnership with Freenotes™ Harmony Park, a PlayCore Company. There are five new percussion instruments in the collection, and each is designed in compliance with ASTM standards for playground areas.
  • Sensory Spinning Seat™ - a fun new freestanding motion activity that features a high back molded seat with handles and front pommel design that helps children maintain a neutral body position while spinning.
  • ShadowPlay® TriRunner® - Based on the success of our patented ShadowPlay® SkyRunner, we developed a new way for children and adults to enjoy the sensation of flight on the playground. The patent-pending design features three soft touch molded seats attached to the same ComfortGrip™ ropes found on our SkyRun® ZipTrack and ZipLine. They’re suspended from ShadowPlay panels, and as users spin around, the panels disperse colorful shadows on the ground below. It’s a fun, exciting and sensory play experience unlike any other!
  • Expression Swing® Toddler - a follow-up to last year’s runaway hit, Expression Swing Toddler takes the biggest idea in playground swings and makes it bigger, by making it smaller. The new toddler seat design cradles younger children (ages 11 to 23 months) as they face an adult parent or caregiver while swinging. It provides the same patented face-to-face and eye-to-eye experience as the original Expression Swing.

This innovative collection of products is designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of social, sensory play. It’s part of GameTime’s ongoing commitment to enriching childhood through play, and our mission to create play spaces that demonstrate leadership in the area of inclusion.
