The community of Dayton, Tennessee had long hoped for an updated outdoor recreation space. Through a partnership between BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation, IMPACT Parks, and GameTime,
Pendergrass Park was revitalized with new equipment designed to inspire intergenerational play for people of all abilities.
Pendergrass Park qualifies as a National Demonstration Site for both inclusion and youth physical activity. This distinction not only recognizes the park’s commitment to evidence-based design, but also supports ongoing data collection to measure its impact on the Dayton community. The findings are shared with key stakeholders, helping everyone involved see the difference the park is making and reinforcing how important these outdoor spaces are to community well-being.
