Planning Tool // Green by DesignEnvironmentally Responsible Play Systems that Last Decades, Not Years.
Enriching lives through play is our commitment to the children, families and communities we serve today – and to many generations to come. That’s why our approach to sustainability encompasses every aspect of our company – from the way we manufacture our products, to how we do business.
Environmentally Responsible Play Systems that Last Decades, Not Years.
For nearly a century, we’ve created products that are made from responsible materials, manufactured in a sustainable manner and designed to be easily reclaimed at the end of their life cycle.
Environmentally Friendly Playgrounds
With more than 125,000 individual parts moving through our 400,000 square foot manufacturing facility, even the smallest steps towards greater environmental efficiency can help us make a very big difference.
The Right Materials
We think sustainable products are products built to last. That means choosing materials that have the lowest possible impact on the environment that can also withstand the physical demands of playful, active children and years of changing weather conditions.
We work with our suppliers to source the most environmentally preferable materials for our products – and our processes. When possible, we also make every effort to find opportunities to work with vendors and suppliers in our local communities to minimize the carbon output associated with transporting materials.
The more recycled content we use, the more we help keep existing materials in a continuous cycle of use and reuse, reducing our consumption of virgin raw materials in the process. From steel to plastic, we include as much pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content in our products as possible – without compromising the quality, durability and performance our customers count on.
Saving Energy, Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
Every kilowatt-hour of energy we save is another decrease in our greenhouse gas emissions, too. Whether we’re updating light fixtures, upgrading air compressors, or conducting energy audits, even small improvements can lead to significant reductions in our overall environmental impact.
As water becomes an increasingly valuable resource, reducing water consumption – and using only the water we really need – is an even more valuable investment in the future of our world. Knowing each drop counts, we’ve implemented a variety of initiatives to reduce water consumption in our facilities, including the use of high-efficiency technology for product painting and washing.
Decreasing waste – and increasing the volume of material we recycle – is one of our biggest opportunities to make a big impact on our environmental footprint. In addition to using material that already contains recycled content, we also make every effort to reduce waste associated with our manufacturing processes. Today, the vast majority of waste at our manufacturing facility is recycled, including 100% of manufacturing process waste like scrap metal, rotationally molded plastic and paper. We’re also working to recycle the majority of our administrative waste, too.
U.S. Green Building Council
The USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system is one of the world’s best-recognized certification programs for buildings, homes and communities.
LEED applies to the environmental performance of all aspects of a building or project, including playgrounds.
GameTime products can help contribute to LEED in a variety of areas, including recycled content, and heat island reduction.

Global Standards & Certifications
Ensuring our products and processes meet the highest standards for performance, safety and environmental performance is one more way we’re offering our customers peace of mind that GameTime products are as responsible as they are engaging.
GameTime leaders serve on the ASTM Committee tasked with setting standards for the playground industry – and our products meet ASTM F1487-11, the Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use.
Consumer Product Safety Commission industry (CPSC)
The CPSC is an independent agency within the US federal government dedicated to providing the public with current safety product information. Our products support the standards and guidelines established in the CPSC Handbook for Public Playground Safety. Download a CPSIA General Certificate of Conformity.
IPEMA Equipment Certification
GameTime is a founding member of International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association, which provides third-party certification to validate playground equipment’s conformance to established industry standards. Our products have received the IPEMA seal, indicating independent lab validation of their conformation with ASTM standards and the Canadian CSA standard CAN Z-614.
Our GT Impax product has also received the IPEMA Surfacing Certification, assurance of conformance with the ASTM F-1292-99 Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation of Surface Systems Under and Around Playground Equipment.
International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
In addition to meeting ISO 9001 standards for manufacturing and quality management systems covering design, development, production, installation, inspection and testing, our manufacturing facility is certified to the ISO 14001 standard, a systematic approach to managing environmental responsibility and efficiency.
TUV SUD America
A European Union Notified and Competent Body, TUV SUD America is an international organization that provides testing and certification in accordance European Harmonized Standard for Commercial Playground Equipment. In addition to earning the TUV SUD America seal, our manufacturing facilities are regularly monitored by the organization.
