Research shows that when children play in
environments that blend nature and the built environment, they obtain the
greatest overall development, health, and outdoor appreciation. However, care
must be taken in designing an environment to sustain plant life, offer beneficial
design principles, and encourage compliant play patterns.
We are pleased to offer NatureGrounds, a program developed with North Carolina
State University’s Natural Learning Initiative, to deliberately bring nature
back into children’s lives.
The NatureGrounds program guide illustrates best practice principles to
build and retrofit naturalized play spaces that create a relaxing family
environment, stimulate interaction, and promotes the community’s social capital.
In addition, your local GameTime representative has the tools to help clients
visualize these benefits by creating playground plans that include plants
and trees, as well as a list of possible zone specific materials to use.
The plan can be designed as an overall finished look, or in phases to give
the client options
in considering their budget and site specific needs.
These customers can then work in partnership with local landscape
architects to bring this plan to life. By working together, we can develop
greener playgrounds to benefit children and help them appreciate nature
more fully.
